The Forbidden Woodland, located just north of Hogwarts castle, is a dark and dangerous area filled with mysteries. While it is considered forbidden in the Harry Potter movies and books, Hogwarts Heritage allows players to explore the world freely without any penalties.

Within the Forbidden Woodland, there are three distinct Merlin Trial runs for players to tackle. Each trial offers unique gameplay mechanics, providing a diverse experience for players.
Due to the dense nature of the Forbidden Woodland, locating these trials can be quite challenging. Fortunately, each trial is located near a significant landmark, which makes the process a bit easier.
You’ll find the first Forbidden Woodland Merlin Trial near Jackdaw’s Burial Tomb.
To complete this trial, you’ll need to have the Confringo spell unlocked. The objective of this trial is to light three braziers. Unlike other Merlin trials, the order in which you light the braziers doesn’t matter.
Quickly cast Confringo on each brazier as they descend towards the bottom. All three braziers must be lit before any of them reach the bottom, or you’ll have to start over. To easily locate the braziers, stand near the Merlin Trial area and use Revelio. The braziers will be outlined in a blue glow. The first brazier is behind a spiderweb near the fallen tree close to the Merlin Trial.
Use Incendio or Confringo to burn away the web if you haven’t done so already.
If you’re facing the Merlin Trial across the lake, the second brazier is to your east. It’s slightly downhill and in close proximity to the trial itself.
The third brazier is near the lake, allowing players to see Jackdaw’s Burial Tomb from across the water.
You can hit all three braziers while still standing relatively close to the Merlin Trial. This strategy ensures you light all of them in time. Choose one spot to stay in and move between casting Confringo on each brazier as quickly as possible before they reach the bottom. Forbidden Woodland Merlin
The second Merlin Trial is located near the Hippogriff Den, just east of the Forbidden Woodland.
Before starting this trial, you’ll need to defeat a few pet poachers in the area.
To complete this trial, you’ll require the Lumos spell and either Confringo or Incendio. The objective is to find three groups of butterflies scattered throughout the area and guide them back to the designated stones using Lumos. Forbidden Woodland Merlin
There are three stones and three corresponding groups of butterflies to locate. All three stones are situated around the edges of the Merlin Trial area. If you’re having trouble spotting them, use Revelio, and they will be highlighted in a blue glow.
Finding the butterflies can be more challenging, but they are also scattered throughout the area. Use Lumos to attract them towards the stones. Guide all three groups of butterflies back to their respective stones to complete the trial.
